这个月很多城市都因为疫情而进行居家办公，今天我们就来聊聊居家办公应该怎么表达。这段文字选自《大西洋月刊》，我会分两到三天给大家分享。大家可以先独立阅读一下这个核心段，有什么问题，后面我会逐句讲解。

hybrid work什么意思呢？hybrid本来是「杂交植物，杂交动物」的意思，袁隆平院士研发的杂交水稻，就称作hybrid rice由此，hybrid 还引申出「混合物」的意思，比如：The music was a hybrid of Western pop and traditional folk song. 。

这种音乐融合了西方流行音乐和传统民歌我们平时说的「混合动力车」叫做hybrid cars这里的hybrid work 便指「混合办公」，也就是时而坐班，时而远程的形式动词短语我们可以说：work in a hybrid fashion。

in a ... fashion 表示「以...方式」，work in a hybrid fashion 便表示「以混合的方式工作」以上都是表达「远程办公」的名词，动词应该怎么说呢？除了大家最熟悉的work from home

，我们还可以用下面几个词：① telecommutetele-表示「远距离」，比如我们熟悉的telephone，commute指「通勤」连起来telecommute便指「远程工作，居家办公」名词形式为telecommuting。

② telework这个词和telecommute很相近，也可表示「远程工作」名词形式为teleworking「居家办公的人」则叫作：teleworkers，或者homeworkers③work remotely。

这个词组很简单，可以和remote work联系起来记忆✏️小结一下：关于「远程办公」的多样表达：名词：remote work/working，telecommuting, teleworking动词：。

work from home, work remotely, telecommute, telework混合办公：hybrid work「远程工作」是近几年很热的话题，这些表达大家要牢牢掌握，写作时进行同义替换，避免从头到尾都是。

work from home这个词我们再来看后面的词汇：lay sth bare 是个很形象的词bare 作形容词，是「空的；赤裸的，无遮蔽的」的意思，比如：她喜欢光着脚跑来跑去 She likes to walk around in bare feet.。

lay sth bare 表示「暴露；揭露」(to show sth that was covered or to make sth known that was secret)，后面通常接名词，比如：

lay bare a plot /a secret 揭露阴谋 / 秘密《纽约时报》一篇关于代孕丑闻的文章也用到了这个词：In particular, it has laid bare an undeniable fact: Surrogate births have become a popular option for Chinese people with the will and the means to travel abroad to find birth mothers outside the country.。

lays bare a long- running problem. 在经济不稳定时期，学校是世界各地人们普遍选择的着陆点，但在中国， 推动扩招暴露了一个⻓期存在的问题再比如：阿黛尔《Rolling in the Deep》中有句歌词唱到：。

Go ahead and sell me out and Ill lay your ship bare继续出卖我我就揭露你所有见不得人的秘密我们再来看一个外刊中常与bare搭配使用的动词：stripstrip

作动词指「脱去衣服；剥掉」，脱衣舞娘就叫作strippersstrip sth bare 可以理解成「抢购一空，洗劫一空」比如《经济学人》报道民众抢购厕纸时提到：Supermarket shelves 。

were stripped bare; tissue paper and kitchen towels were also snapped up. 超市货架被抢购一空，厕纸和厨房用纸也遭到了抢购这句话里的。

snap up sb / sth也是一个高频短语，指「抢购，赶紧拿下」，后面既可以跟人，也可以跟物我们来看两个电影里的例子：《经济学人》一篇关于中国游客对邮轮公司影响的文章也用到了strip sth bare。

皇家加勒比和嘉年华邮轮上的商店经常被扫荡一空，从宝格丽项链到韩国电饭煲一件不剩brutal 为形容词，指「无情的，残酷的」，比如：a brutal attack 一次残忍的攻击这个词还可以指抽象意义上的「残酷无情，难以忍受」，比如：。

face the brutal fact 面对残忍的事实efficiency 以复数形式出现时，指「功效」文中brutal efficiency 便是指「惨不忍睹的低效情况」它的形容词形式：efficient 。

大家都很熟悉，指「效率高的，有能力的」reflect (badly / poorly) on / upon sb也是一个词组，表示「让...给人不好的印象」比如：When one player behaves disgracefully, it 。

reflects badly on the whole team. 一个球员的不光彩行为会给整个球队带来很坏的影响If my children are rude, that reflects on me as a parent.。

假如我的孩子没有礼貌，那会使我这个做家长的丢脸讲完了词汇，同学们再按照意群把这句话快速通读一遍：Remote work lays bare [many brutal inefficiencies] and [problems that executives don’t want to deal with because they reflect poorly on leaders and those they’ve hired].。
